Meet Maz
Working within the veterinary industry, I began noticing a growing trend: more and more high-drive, purpose-bred dogs were joining family homes, without an outlet for all that energy and instinct. These dogs needed a job, but their people often didn't understand what that truly meant. A quick walk around the block just doesn't cut it for a dog bred to work.
My philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach. I look at the whole lifestyle, the time available, nutrition, and the physical abilities of both dog and owner, because training doesn't happen in isolation. It's about creating balance, building understanding, and finding practical solutions that fit real lives.
At the heart of my work is positive reinforcement and relationship building. I believe training is as much about guiding the owner as it is about teaching the dog. It's a team effort, built on trust, clear communication, and shared goals. By empowering owners with knowledge and confidence, we create partnerships where dogs thrive and people feel supported every step of the way.
I'm genuinely here to help problem-solve and guide you toward the dream relationship you want with your dog. Whether it's channeling drive into positive outlets, easing frustration, or building confidence, my goal is to help both ends of the leash thrive together.
How we work
Behaviour is communication. We start by understanding what a dog is telling us, then build skills that make the world make sense to them.
Lasting change happens between sessions. You'll leave knowing what to do, why it works, and how to keep going on your own.
We train for real life situations: on the beach, the trail, the pavement, the front door. Skills then hold up where they matter.
Training should make sense to dogs and their families.
Qualified & always learning
I'm currently undergoing my COAPE Animal Trainer Certification, with my qualification expected in September 2026. My background also includes a Certificate in Advanced Equine Stud Management, part of a lifelong life working alongside animals. I keep learning the same way I ask our students to: one step at a time.
Our students have successfully passed Bronze, Silver and Gold KUSA Canine Good Citizenship exams. We're as proud of the calm walk to the test as the ribbon at the end.

Home visits, walks and sessions across the southern reaches of the Cape Town peninsula, and the trails in between.
